Want to run a Facebook Ad but don’t know how?

Facebook is constantly rolling out new changes and their Ads Platform is no different!

In a recent webinar a team member from Facebook Australia shared what they call their “Light Weight Features” to help with running Ads from your Facebook Page.

1.  Promote Page AdGetMorePageLikesonPage

This is relatively new and its whole focus is to get new “Likers” to your Page.

This feature can be found where you would normally see “New Likers” on your Admin Panel.  (Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be rolled out to every page at the time of writing this article.)

To get started – simply click on Promote Post and then complete the details to help with targeting, insert your payment details and you are just about done!

2.  Boost Post

This one has been around for awhile, previously called “Promoted Post”, now called Boost Post.

I have always liked this ad style as it was quick and easy to use, particularly when announcing a contest on my Page. These types of posts are seen in the newsfeed of your page Likers and/or friends, so they are a great way to target people who are MIA (Missing in Action from your Page).

With the name change came a couple of other changes;  they now include limited targeting ie. you can choose the location,  age, gender and language, which in my opinion is a huge bonus.  Downside – its gone from a 3 day promotion to 1 day and the cost has remained the same.

To get started, simply write a status update and then hit POST, then click on the Boost Post, which can be found at the bottom right hand corner.  (This feature is available to all pages that have over 50 Likers).

Once you click on Boost Post a new window will open like this one!

I prefer to choose ‘through targeting’, and then decide on my location and age etc.   If you are not sure on what age and gender – take a peak at your Insights and see who is Liking your Page.

Set your Budget, Facebook will give you several pricing options.

If you haven’t used this before you’ll need to add in your credit card or paypal details.

Then hit the BOOST POST again down the bottom and you are good to go!

Facebook gives you results of the Ad reach after the promotion has finished.

Tip:  For those that are ready to take the plunge and try out  Ads, you’ll get better results if you use the Ads Manager and really target your Ads.

For example, if your ideal customer is someone who lives in Queensland (Australia)  is aged 24 – 35 and  newly married, then by using the Ads Manager you can be more specific with your targeting. You’ll get a lot better results and not be paying for people to see your Ad who are not interested in your products or services.

Tip 2:  When using Facebook Ads, set a budget, don’t get carried away with your Ad spend!  I have great success with a daily budget of $10 getting my Ads seen in the newsfeed of my ideal customers.

I know many people complain bitterly about spending money, but frankly I think they are a great investment in getting your business seen and an even better way of getting your Facebook Contest in front of your ideal customer !
