Have you Claimed your Places Page

Facebook Places is essentially free word-of-mouth advertising for your business. When customers check in, they’ll automatically be telling their Facebook friends about it. If you run a business with a street entrance, there’s a good chance that it’s already a part of Facebook Places.

By claiming your Page, you have the opportunity to customize that free advertising. With the new “Deals” being rolled out this will have a huge impact on businesses.  To learn more about deals visit https://www.facebook.com/deals/checkin/

How to Claim Your Places Page in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1: Establish if you have a Places Page

Do a search of Facebook to see if there is a Places Page for your Business.

Step 2:  Create or Claim your Pace

If nobody has checked in to your business before, you’ll need to use a Smart Phone and go to the Facebook app. Search for your place. If it doesn’t exist, you can quickly create it by clicking on “Add” or the “+” sign depending upon the App you are using on your Phone.

Enter a name for the new Place as well as an optional description of it. Then, click the “Add” button at the bottom right of the page.

You will then have the option to both write a description of what you are doing at the new Place, and/or tag your friends there.
Click the “Check In” button to share your visit.

Step 3: Claim The Place As Yours

Log into Facebook and search for the Place that you’ve created or checked into. Once you find the venue you can click on the “Wheel” at the top of the Page and choose “Is This your Business?

(A) Tick “I Certify that I am an official representative of Your Business” and Proceed with Verification.

Complete the required information in Section (B) and click Continue and lastly Verify the listing (C) and click SUBMIT.

You will get a final screen “Thanks, your inquiry has been forwarded to the Facebook Team”.  And then its a matter of waiting for Facebook Team to get back to you.

About a week or so later (hopefully) you’ll hear back from Facebook telling you that your claim had been approved and you can take “ownership” (adding details, a logo, etc.) of our place on Facebook.
